Use the Dots to Create Interest
There are so many ways to add interest to a design and with the help of the big wheel, this can easily be accomplished. The first that comes to mind is to use the wheel on the back of the pewter design. This will accentuate a specific area of the design and create an embossed effect on the front of the design. The dotted big wheel can be used to reline an existing line. The relining can be done either on the front of the pewter or metal of choice or on the back.
Working with bigger designs or projects, the big wheel is one of the better options to use for outlining the metal embossing design. This will give the design a refined finished look. It is a perfect choice to be used with the herringbone with gap wheel. First create the line, border, or frame using the herringbone wheel. Then use the big wheel to create a line of big dots in the gap area of the herringbone design. By the way, create two different effects. Dots in the gap when using the dotted big wheel on the front of the metal. Embossed dots when using the dotted wheel on the back of the metal.
In addition to using the texture wheel on metal, it is also suited to use on paper or canvas. Run the wheel over an inked stamp pad and then onto paper, or a mixed media project. Create a variety of dotted designs. This works with acrylic paint too, however, take care not to overload the wheel with too much paint.
